Lymphatic Massage - Know Why Your Nodes Hurt

As much as I love giving and receiving lymphatic massage and benefit greatly from it, it does beg the question, why do I keep needing it? Also, why do my nodes hurt? I can’t answer this for everyone as we all have different lifestyles, habits and diets. Personally, I want to know why. Even if I had no underlying issues, I’d still want lymphatic massage at least a couple of times a year as an aid to my health.

This year alone I have been diagnosed with Angioedema, Costochondritis and Asthma. I’ve taken this all with a pinch of Celtic sea salt. We are all living experiments and I for one like to mix things up. All of my symptoms have gotten worse and been downright miserable for the majority of this year. What had I changed? Number one was my diet. I went keto with a fair amount of aged and cured foods – not unhealthy. Over four months my health deteriorated. I ended up on steroids for the first time in my life. The mental side effects of these were worse than the ones that took me to the doctor. I lasted four dark days on these. So what was going on? I added a few more carbs, reduced the aged and fermented foods and within two days my nodes were less painful, my breasts didn’t feel like they were tearing apart and I wasn’t having to do daily lymphatic massage.

Everywhere you look it’s superfood this, fermented food that, avocados and spinach with everything. Yep, even bone broth won’t heal your gut if you have a problem clearing histamines.  We do this and then wonder why our health is suffering. It seems to work for everyone else. Then I revisited histamines. Everything has histamines, just different levels.  Once you get your head around this, it’s pretty easy to navigate. You don’t need to aim for perfection with this either. Those two days where everything was getting better, I had much lower histamine foods. It worked that quickly for me. My body was unable to clear these histamines I was topping it up with everyday and I don’t want to take antihistamines to allow me to eat these things. The journey isn’t over and I am now having some allergy testing to see if there are any food intolerances or maybe a gene issue. I believe that the underlying problem is gut health and am investigating this too – an ongoing saga for me. Perhaps I don’t have any of these diagnosed issues and that they are all a response to a high histamine diet and compromised gut health.

Be curious and aware that what works for someone may not work for you and that’s OK. We are bombarded with health advice from social media, but it is very generic. Taking supplements isn’t supposed to be everyday for ever, just until your levels are where they should be at. It can take a toll on your body and throw you out of balance easily if you don’t actually need these things.
